My Glaucoma was firstly detected 13 years ago by a visit to the optician.  A referral to an eye specialist confirmed that I had glaucoma.

At that time I knew nothing about the condition but over time I became much more interested and knowledgeable.  Initial eye drops prescribed resulted in fairly acute eye lid redness.  This reaction is common apparently, not alarming but unsightly.

Over the initial 2-3 years different eye drop combinations were trialled until I finally ended up with two drops neither of which caused any side effects of any kind.  I have been on my current daily eye drop routine now for 10 years.  Over this time the pressures are recorded and I visit my eye specialist every six months without fail.  They have been at an entirely acceptable level due to my daily eye drop routine.

It's possible over the next year or two that I may be encouraged to undertake laser surgery but constant monitoring by my eye surgeon will determine if it is necessary.
